Founded at Tun Tavern, Philadelphia on November 10 — two battalions ordered by the Second Continental Congress to serve with the fleet.

Belleau Wood

Marines earn the nickname "Devil Dogs" at Belleau Wood — one of the most savage battles of World War I.
